In compliance with common industry standards and to fulfil recommendations made during the 2012 internal audit, Neuro IT will create and maintain a new MNI IT assets database.
The purpose of the database is to ensure that all future IT equipment purchased from McGill funds (research or administrative) is inventoried and tracked through its life-cycle.
To this end, IT equipment received through our Shipping and Receiving department will be rerouted and delivered to Neuro-IT.
Once received by Neuro-IT, you will be notified, the equipment details will be entered into our database, and the setup and installation will be scheduled by Neuro-IT within two (2) business days.

Equipment covered by this policy includes:

- Desktop computers and laptops
- Computer monitors
- Printers, scanners, fax machines and copiers
- Electronic pads (iPads, Android tablets, etc.) and e-book readers
- Cellular devices, including all smartphones
- Servers, Networked Attached Storage (NAS), backup devices, and all network enabled devices

It is important to note that when IT equipment is no longer used or needed, you must  notify us by email (help.mni@mcgill.ca), and we will arrange to pick up and dispose of the equipment as per McGill’s IT Equipment Disposal Policy (ITED Policy), which covers the disposal and/or reuse of unwanted IT equipment purchased with McGill funds. For a detailed description of the McGill ITED policy, please refer to:  http://www.mcgill.ca/procurement/sites/mcgill.ca.procurement/files/itedp.pdf
Please don’t hesitate to contact us for more information or if you would like to advise us of an upcoming IT purchase.
