Starting October 2025, Windows 11 will be the only officially supported Windows operating system. Neuro IT will support Windows 11 Enterprise/Pro/EDU.

Please note: Any computer purchased in early 2018 or earlier will not be upgradeable to Windows 11 due to Microsoft established minimum configuration requirements.

How to Check if Your Computer Meets the Requirements:
To determine if your computer meets the hardware requirements for Windows 11, use the official PC Health Check Tool from Microsoft. This tool will automatically assess your system's compatibility.
Here’s how to use it:

  1. Download and install the PC Health Check app from this link: https://aka.ms/GetPCHealthCheckApp
  2. Right-click the Start menu and select Search.
  3. In the search box, type PC Health Check.
  4. Click on PC Health Check from the search results.
  5. In the PC Health Check window that appears, click the Check now button.

Windows 10 Support Ending October 2025
As you may be aware, Microsoft will be discontinuing support for Windows 10 as of October 14, 2025. After this date any computers on the McGill network running Windows 10 or older pose a security risk because there will be no new security patches available. McGill IT Services is therefore requesting all computers at McGill be upgraded to a supported operating system, preferably Windows 11 or higher, by this date.

Wi-Fi Calling

Wi-Fi Calling is a feature available on iPhone and Android that allows you to call and message (text and multimedia) over Wi-Fi when you have little or no cellular coverage. You can use Wi-Fi Calling to call and message as you do on the cellular network, even if the person on the other end is not using Wi-Fi Calling.
